We all need to eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly and use nutritional vitamin supplements. These are keys to a successfully lose weight. The other factors that we must consider is to drink plenty of water, get lots of fresh air, limit stress in our lives and to sleep. We need 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily to rejuvenate our bodies. As we do all of these things we will be successful.</p>
<p><strong>Weight Loss Goals</strong></p>
<p>So we know what to do, we know what works, and we have established our weight loss goals. Does that equal success?<br />
Is it automatic that we will lose weight even when we follow a proven system? Of course success is not promised.</p>
<p>The main reason is us. Though we laid out a plan that will work and we have personal motivation to succeed success is still not sure. There are two things we can do to increase the likelihood of our success. One is internal and the second is external. First, we can establish a reward system for ourselves.</p>
<p><strong>Reward</strong></p>
<p>As we accomplish small goals reward yourself to keep on track and to pat yourself on the back. The rewards can be small and they should never be something that takes us away from our program. For instance if you like music then buy a CD as a treat for accomplishing a goal. For something larger go to a play or movie. Better yet, have someone treat you. What ever you do not reward yourself with a something forbidden on your menu. Do not reward yourself by skipping a day of your regular exercise. How about go walk or jog along the lake or someplace special as a reward.</p>
<p><strong>Accountability</strong></p>
<p>We do not punish ourselves if we do not meet our goals but we must be accountable. So the opposite of rewarding yourself in this instance is to have someone else reward you. There are ways to make yourself accountable to meet your personal goals. Start off writing your long and short term goals down. Use them as daily reminders. Place your overall goal and weekly goal on the refrigerator, bathroom mirror, computer screen or wherever you will be constantly reminded. Next let the world know about them. When you share with the world your plans you become accountable in following through. Now do not brag or be brash but be confident as you share your goals. Most importantly get an accountability partner. Someone you can share with who will motivate and encourage you. Your accountability partner will not be a yes man though. They should tell you when you are falling off and need to get back on task. Yes your accountability partner will primarily encourage you and should be someone you have a close relationship with. They must be respect. But they are not to coddle you. They are someone you can be accountable to as well as being accountable to yourself. Your accountability partner will also be the one to reward you for a job well done and a goal accomplished.</p>

Weekly weigh-ins are the reward, but how do you maintain your motivation day after day?  I have figured out a way and have named it the DEWS plan.  It is a simple, positive daily approach to <a href="http://www.dietplan123.com/healthy-weight-loss-2/">healthy weight loss</a> and maintaining a feel-good lifestyle.</p>
<p>By now most of us know the basics to healthy weight loss.  What has been missing is a way to stay focused on a DAILY basis.  Weekly weigh-ins are the reward, but how do you maintain your motivation day after day?  I have figured out a way!<br />
At 55 I have been up and down the scales countless times.  Today I am on my way back down, 18 pounds so far, and want to share my successful plan with other overweight contenders.<br />
At 40, with 25 years of dieting under my belt, I found myself uncomfortably heavy again.  I knew from experience that &#8216;eat this, do not eat that&#8217; and calorie/carb/fat gram counting regimens did not work for me over the long term.  Once at a comfortable weight I would fall right back into old habits and eating patterns.  My best chance at a healthy second half of my life was to make a lifestyle change and develop a way to live it.<br />
There were three things that I needed to try to do for myself everyday &#8211; <a href="http://www.dietplan123.com/how-the-benefits-of-drinking-hot-water-help-with-detoxification/">drink water</a>, exercise and eat sensibly.  I also needed to address my biggest hurdle, a thirst for beer.  I set up a simple 4-week chart with four blocks to fill in each day.  At bedtime I would fill in the appropriate blocks.  Filling in all four was very gratifying, like getting a &#8216;A&#8217; on a test.  Whenever I filled in 4-5 perfect days in a row, I was exhilarated, proud and even more motivated.  As long as I filled in at least 95 of the 112 blocks each 4-week period, my weekly weigh-ins validated my daily successes.  I lost 11 pounds the first four weeks and went on to lose 37 pounds.<br />
Now why, if I found the key to <a href="http://www.dietplan123.com/healthy-weight-loss/">healthy weight loss</a> 15 years ago, am I repeating the effort now?  That is a tough question with a hard to admit answer.  I have deep-rooted self-esteem issues that creep in over time and undermine all my best efforts. Being aware of these wellness detractors and knowing that I do deserve to feel and look better,  I have learned that even when I reach a comfortable weight I need to continue charting for maintenance and self-worth.<br />
In January 2007 I sent a copy of the chart to my sister.  Now 58 pounds lighter, she is very happy with her progress and motivated to lose another 20 before settling into a maintenance plan.  I have organized and updated the information, creating an easy to follow packet of charts, explanations and examples.  It is available on my website.  I strongly believe that I can help others lose weight successfully and develop their own healthy lifestyles.  I also encourage those who purchase the packet to share it.
